The Chequer Inn is without doubt a beautiful and characterful building, which possesses some important historical features, but its listed status has given us a headache because anything we do, except like for like repairs, are subject to listed building consent.
We are now hoping to start more extensive building work and this weekend we have received the good news that Dover District Council have accepted our Planning Application for an extension to build a disabled toilet, internal renovations on the first floor living accommodation, as well as the kitchen and access to the cellar.
We would like to thank all villagers and supporters for their time on the councils planning portal to provide them with the information needed to help make the decision. We look forward to updating you all with building work progress over the next few weeks!
